Varmits in the Attic

We had decide that this year we were going to worry about the yard, and that even got scaled back to the first tier in the back yard. I kind of took care of the big weeds in the front yard, but we have patches of no grass that we have not been able to solve.

When we got up this morning we discovered the rodents(squirrels) that share our space had chewed up the form bed we had stored in the garage. So we decided we best take a second look at the ceiling insulation.

We don't think this is what it should look like, it is no wonder we have not heard anything in the night. I think we are going to put a strobe light in the attic for a few days and then close out their entrance. I have no idea how we are going to replace the insulation, Paul does not think there are any plywood sheet on top of the rafters. Guess we will find out...but maybe not until next year.

  1. Too bad about your squirrels! I wonder if we're going to have birds nesting in our attic. One of the eaves is still broken open. I hope the builder fixes it soon!

  2. Wow, sorry about those pesky squirrels. Home ownership comes with a lot of interesting situations.

  3. The books all said to put a metal plate on the hole. And there was a plate already there that the squirrels chewed around. Our ladder was to short so Paul shot a bunch of form insulation into the hole, So, now we just have wait and see what the squirrels do next.
