Brandy

Brandy claiming what Paul thinks is his man cave as her new canine space and Brandy surveying her newly tiered backyard.

1st tier before and after

One tier done, two or three to go. I am trying to talk Paul into fixing the tier that the fence sits on, it is the one that is in the worst condition, but because we don't have to look at it he is resisting.

I finished "Three Cups of Tea" so I was in the market for a new book. My super ego wanted me to read Ken Follert's "Pillars of the Earth", but the ID wanted something lighter and the ID always seems to win with me. I got Cokie Roberts "Ladies of Liberty," and "The Mitford Letters" letters between six sisters.
I can not believe the weekend is over. I met some friends (okay the only friends I have left in area) for breakfast on Saturday and did not get home until 2:00 PM because we went shopping after breakfast. It was noted by the group that everyone but me drove a SUV. I would like a SUV because it is so much easier to get in and out of, but I really don't want to give up my Lexus because it is such comfortable ride. Anyway, it was fun seeing everyone again, but it really put a dent in my weekend. Yesterday I ended up at Barnes and Noble. What can I say? I am like a moth drawn to a flame. I went in looking for Edward Rutherford's new book about New York City and ended up reading the autobiography of Gretchen Wilson, who is a Country Western singer. She more or told little antidotes and then tied them together chronologically. It wasn't bad and it made me feel I was capable of the same feat. Write down the antidotes, edit and then tie the story together. I have a new purpose. I think writing an autobiography would be a great way to release pent-up emotional energy, I believe the correct word is cathartic.

Newly Filed Teeth

I asked Sarah to take a picture of my teeth (she had really nice Canon Elp 10 MegaPixel Camera).

Waiting of Tornado

Yesterday afternoon the building where I work got a tornado warning so, we were suppose all report to one of the designated tornado shelter areas (stairwells, bathrooms, conference rooms, etc). By the time we decide to go (several people I work with our from the midwest, where warnings are not taken serious) the tornado shelter areas were crowded. So, we went back and waited by the window (right by a stairwell). We felt we would be okay because the KP geese didn't seek shelter. Sarah had a camera, so this is what it looked like from our window. As Griz would say "our view was a 360."

I was sitting in a meeting on Monday, when I noticed I had a pretty good size hole in my front tooth. I thought about using a finger nail file to smooth out the edges, but then I though if I has a hairline crack I could loose the tooth. So I call the last denist I went. Turns out that was 3 and a half years ago. I knew I was going have pay for an new patient visit, and to have an xray and probably a cleaning, but I was okay with that. It had been 3 and a half years and you its like insurance if you neglect to pay they always get you when you need them.

The denist look at the tooth said she could rebuild it, but suggested that we just file it down. Needless to say, we filed the two front teeth down. It would have looked really funny if one front tooth was longer than the other. Actually they look better now than they ever have because they are the same length as the rest of my teeth. It tried to take a picture, but teeth do not photograph that well.

She charged my insurance company $44.00 for services rendered. No new patient office visit, no cleaning, no xrays even suggested. I have the best denist ever, she even speaks Slovakian.

Three Cups of Tea

I finished the book about the US history and started reading the book Judy gave me for Christmas. So far it has been very inspiring. I had a hard time finding a picture of the book, but I found a great review:

While critics agree that Three Cups of Tea should be read for its inspirational value rather than for its literary merit, the book's central theme, derived from a Baltistan proverb, rings loud and clear. "The first time you share tea with a Balti, you are a stranger," a villager tells Greg Mortenson. "The second time, you are an honored guest. The third time you become family." An inspirational story of one man's efforts to address poverty, educate girls, and overcome cultural divides, Three Cups, which won the 2007 Kiriyama Prize for nonfiction, reveals the enormous obstacles inherent in becoming such "family." Despite the important message, critics quibbled over the awkward prose and some melodrama. After all, a story as dramatic and satisfying as this should tell itself.

I guess, whoever does the work, will get to decide what the yard will look like. I am not volunteering. I can live with however Paul decides do arrange it.

Spring time in the Rockies

Spring has sprung, time to start spring planting, but first we have to defind the yard. Paul is thinking grass and more pine trees. I would perfer tall grasses and daffodils.

Spare Room Ready of Visitors

Happy Easter! I wanted to give you a preview of our spare room. It is almost ready for visitors. It does need a small rug.
I did not get nearly enough done while I was off. Turns out I forget to renew my car license so I will have go to the DMV next week. Paul can't go because the car is registered in my name. I wanted to organize closests but that did not happen and now I am thinking I best wait unti after the 17th. I don't want to mess up the new spare room. I also got a new curtain for craft room that is quite cute, but I am not going to post a picture of it because Paul wants Kent and Barbara to come to dinner while Judy is in town and if I show you every thing where is the incentive to come to dinner on the 15th, 16th or 17th?
Terrie and John invited us over for Easter. Terry's sister Sherrie is in town and Debbie will also be there so it sounds like a good crowd. I should take the camera and post pictures later today.
I have to go back to work tomorrow so I don't have a lot to day today because I am so conflicted about going back to work. I don't hate my job, but I always dread going back after I have had a couple of days off and it is hard to think of anything to write. I am going to take a nice long bath, get ready for dinner at Terry and John's and try not to worry about tomorrow.

It is hard to believe Easter is tomorrow. How did that happen? Because we now have a house I felt the need to decorate for the holiday. Okay, not a lot since I only have two decorations, but none the less I dug out our Easter decor set it up in the office.
